Morning!
I hope you were able to enjoy the holiday with your immediate family! We are entering week 5 already and it has been hard, but also encouraged my family to spend more time together, cook new meals, bake, and find new hobbies. We have learned how to relax and I have witnessed my babies hit many milestones that I may have missed while at work. With that said, tomorrow, we will begin the next pandemic learning week. Ms. Dalesandro will lead most lessons this week in an attempt to provide her with some teaching hours for her certification. We are still unsure if these hours will count for her, but we want to try. I will still set up webex appointments this week as well. Webex- Wednesday @ 1:00-1:30pm and Thursday @ noon I am also looking into a new math online program. A few parents have told me that Happynumbers.com has become redundant and boring and I do not want to lose any motivation. Once I find a new program, I will send out the new info for you to use! Thank you for your support! Thank you to the parents on the front lines! I pray that this will pass soon. I pray I will be able to have a class again this year. Until then, please email, text, call with any and all concerns. Mrs. Fordyce

Hello Friends! Today marks the fourth week with at home learning. I sent an email describing the things I was able to do with my family at home. I sent the google attachment in the email from last night. You will need to use flipgrid for the stories, sign into Raz kids to read, and sign onto Happynumbers.com. You will also need the slides that I provided below. Please remember this is the week before Easter and in school we would celebrate by reading Easter books, hosting a spring party, and creating fun crafts. So, I will post some fun activities I have planned to do with Joey. You can watch, participate, or even recreate them at home. Stay healthy!
Welcome back! It was a wet and rainy weekend, but hopefully the sun will shine this week! I hope you are ready! This week is big! The last two weeks has been review and this week I am introducing some new content! Please email or text any questions you may have as we navigate homeschooling together! Below you will find the tools you will need to sign into Flipgrid.com (this is where you will find this week's read alouds) and happynumbers.com (this is where you will begin your math assignments). You will need your passwords to sign into both accounts. Please let me know if there is a problem. Also, please remember to continue to sign into RAZ Kids to read your guided reading books. Please use the links below to begin!
Happy Birthday to me!! :)
Good morning! Today, I am going live for our morning meeting, posting a Read Aloud book called Mary Blair's Unique Flair, and I am posting a link to see me draw MICKEY on the computer. It is pretty cool! Send me pictures of your Mickey, too! This week we had planned a week of celebrating Women's History Month. I had picked a woman by the name of Mary Blair. Mary Blair is a Disney Legend! She created art and animation for Disney movies including Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She was chosen as a Disney Legend because her choice of color and simple shapes created something that had not been done before, especially within the Disney company. This week, I will read one of her books and link other books about Mary Blair on youtube. I will also help you create and set up art/science experiments about color, introduce your child to new artist/illustrators, and provide links that will help your child create their own art!
Take a look at this Google Document I created just for you! There are enough activities for each day; however, you are not required to complete all of them. Take one or two of my ideas and send a picture of video! I would love to see you! Also, if you have a file you would like to share with me... return to the main page. You can send the file directly to me! Be sure to check out Ms. Dalensandro as she reads today about Farm Animals. She reviews what makes a nonfiction book and how you can also create a nonfiction book at home. Be sure to share with me if you do! Also, I found a few virtual field trips that you can check out online! Copy and Paste this link: https://freedomhomeschooling.com/virtual-field-trips/ I suggest you complete at least one math page and one literacy page today. I know some of you have already completed your opinion writing and I have been sharing that on the REMIND ME APP as well! All of you are doing so well at home and I hope that I can see you soon! Good morning!
I hope day one went as well as it could have for you and your family! I know it is difficult to juggle work and Covid-19 home schooling! Here, in my home, we have established a routine that allows both my husband and I to get some time on the computer to complete work tasks and time to attend to our babies! I have heard from many of you working with your schedules as well! Keep up the awesome work! Here I have a few math and literacy games that you can set up and let your child play as you work! Use this pizza counting game to add silly toppings to a pizza by counting the right number. To challenge yourself, write a number sentence to go with the pizza! https://www.education.com/game/counting-pizza-party/ This is a worksheet that will provide you with number sentences! https://www.education.com/worksheet/article/superstar-addition-first/ Use this site to help blend CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words together! Your child knows that a CVC word has a short vowel in the middle! https://www.education.com/guided-lesson/blending-k/ Today is surreal. I would have never thought I would teach Kindergarten from my classroom. I am working diligently to create and upload video lessons that might help ease the stress of home schooling during this difficult time.
Today, Ms. Delesandro will post a math video on making teen numbers. This video is review of what she has been teaching during Morning Meeting in class. When your child sees the video, he/she should be familiar. If time allows, use this strategy to extend the activity at home. You can use numbers 11-19! If needed, you can further extend the activity by creating number bonds with numbers 20-29, too! |
A Note from Mrs. FordycePlease use this page to help navigate your class work at home. I will blog about questions you may have asked, provide additional work, and talk about the videos that were created for you. Please check back often for updates! ArchivesCategories |
